Michael J. 'Mickey" Mucci

April 13, 1932 — October 17, 2017

Michael J. ‘Mickey’ Mucci, Jr., 85, of Perryopolis, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Tuesday, October 17, 2017.  Born April 13, 1932 in Point Marion, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Julia Rebottini Mucci.  A lifelong resident of Perryopolis and Star Junction, he was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church.  Mr. Mucci served his entire educational career with the Frazier School District serving as a teacher, coach, athletic director, transportation supervisor, school administrator, assistant principal and finishing his career as principal with 38 years of service to the school district.  Mickey attended St. Vincent College from 1950-54 on a full football scholarship and was an Alumni Letterman.  He was also later inducted into the Frazier Alumni Hall of Fame.  Mickey was a veteran having served in the US Army, was a member of the St. John the Baptist Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 4427 and a 4th Degree Knight and was a member of the Perryopolis Sons of Italy where he served as a former State Trustee.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Yusko Mucci to whom he was married 61 years; three children Michalene Iacovino & husband Christopher of Export, Michael J. Mucci III DDS of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Juliann Cernuska & husband Steve of Jefferson; three grandchildren Dominic Mucci and Christina Mucci, Cameron Joseph Cernuska affectionately known as Pappy’s Boy; sister Theresa Giocondi of Chicago, Illinois and a brother in law Larry 'Fuzzy' Morozek of Fayette City.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515.  Prayers of Transfer will be held Friday at 10:00 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist RC Church with the Rev. Anthony W. Ditto Pastor and the Rev. Robert Lubic as co-celebrants.  Interment will take place in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perryopolis.  Members of St. John the Baptist Church will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Mickey Mucci Thursday at 3 pm in the funeral home.  The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Mickey J. Mucci, Jr. to Alzheimer's Assoc. or to Breast Cancer Research.
