Bruce McClain Hissom

June 20, 1942 — April 27, 2019

Bruce McClain Hissom, 76, of Star Junction, passed away peacefully at his home in the loving arms of his 5 children and wife on Saturday, April 27, 2019.  Born June 20, 1942 in Wickhaven, PA, he was the son of the late James L. and Eleanor Askey Hissom. He is survived by his wife, 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Star Junction, Mr. Hissom was a retired Railroad Engineer from B&O and CSX.

Bruce’s greatest joys were being “Daddy” to his children and “Papper” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and outdoorsman. His favorite spots to grab a deer were PA, CO, and WV. Northern Quebec, Canada was his favorite fishing location where he loved to eat fresh caught Walleye on the shore while watching the wildlife and drinking Mt. Dew with his best friend, Ronnie.

We cherish & will always remember the times that Daddy would break into song and dance with the little ones, the fun “cakey parties" and the special nicknames he had for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jones Hissom, to whom he was married 55 years; daughter, Camellia Pato (fiancé Jeffrey Mascetta) of Monongahela; daughter, Bernadette (John) Malinak of Washington; daughter, Mary (Brian) Matty of Monaca; daughter, Sonja (Fred)  Braun of Pittsburgh; son, Bruce Hissom II of Wylie, Texas; two brothers, James Robert (Jaretta) Hissom of Ohio and Richard Hissom of Charleroi; a half sister Margery (Richard)  Pisarcik of New Kensington; nine grandchildren, Laura (Jeffrey) Litzenburger, Cassandra Malinak, Allison Pato, Jacob Pato, Brian (Mignon) Matty, Adam Matty, Patrick Matty, Kylene (Rich) Brown, and Sophia Hissom; four great-grandchildren, Louis Litzenburger, Ella Mae Litzenburger, Landon Brown, Oliver Brown, and a great-granddaughter soon to be born.  He is preceded in death by a sister Lila Rae Watson, infant brother Barry Hissom, and his beloved grandfather, John ”Bub” Elmer Hissom.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 12-3 & 5-8 PM and Friday at 11:00 AM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515.  Funeral services will be held Friday at Parzynski Funeral Home at 12:00 PM.
