Edgar (Sonny) F. Jones

Edgar F. Jones, Jr. (Sonny), 71, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Twp.  Born March 18, 1947 in Charleroi, PA he was the son of the late Edgar F. and Mildred E. McKissick Jones.  A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 17 years, Mr. Jones was Methodist by faith and was a retired steelworker from Whg-Pgh Steel, Allenport Plant.  He was a veteran of Vietnam where he served in the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.  Edgar was also a member of the Fairhope Rod & Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife Joan  Sakalik Jones to whom he was married 16 years; two sons & daughter in law Gregory & Crystal Jones of Uniontown; Eric Jones of Connellsville; a stepson Dennis Houseman of Belle Vernon; stepdaughter Kimberly Coulter & husband Scott Lorenze of South Park; two grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren and a sister & brother in law Linda & Frank Patrick of Jefferson Estates.  He is preceded in death by his sister Sandra Lee Hazelbaker

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations at 01:30 PM with the Rev. Derek Platt of First United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
