George H. Burkett, 86, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Mon Valley Hospital, Monongahela. Born August 15, 1933 in Pricedale, PA he was the son of the late Willard T. and Katherine Treadwell Burkett. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Burkett was Protestant by faith and was retired from Whg-Pgh Steel, Monessen Plant where he worked as a machinist. George was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army, member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, VFW Belle Vernon Post 699, AM Vets Post 0103 Uniontown, Belle Vernon Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 209, Fairhope Rod & Gun Club, Pricedale Russian Club and a life member of the Second Division Association.
He is survived by two daughters & sons in law Kimberly & Jeff Lowe of Jefferson Hills, Debra & Ed Morrow of Belle Vernon, son George Burkett of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren Jennifer Campedel & Husband Tom, Eddie Morrow, Amber Morrow, Sean Burkett; two great grandchildren Beatrice Campedel, Rosaline Campedel; brother & sisters in law Charles & Sheryl Burkett of Hopwood, Nina Burkett of Whitehall. He is preceded in death by his sister Arlene Gaul; brother Daniel Burkett and his former wife Patricia Scurci.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations at 10:00 AM with Pastor Lee Maley of Amedisys Hospice officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Tuesday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home.
