William O. Bowen

William O. “Cowboy” Bowen, 81, of Rostraver Township, passed away very suddenly at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023.  Born February 18, 1942 in McKeesport, PA he was the son of the late William H. and Margaret Nagy Bowen.  Cowboy enjoyed watching the antics of his cats which made him laugh; and talking to people at the local stores and attending gun shows. He was a good-natured but ornery character with a wry sense of humor.  He came across as “tough” but in reality he was a truly caring individual with a heart for people and animals (especially cats) and made new friends wherever he went.  In his younger years, he raced stock cars on the dirt track circuit; and rode motorcycles as often as he could; in all kinds of weather  He held various jobs during his younger years, but then went to work at GM Fisher Body plant in West Mifflin, where he retired from in 2004 after 36 years.  He was a salvage man repairing damaged panels coming off the assembly line; and later on as a tow motor operator at the plant.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War era, where he served in Germany.

He is survived by his wife Candy Bowen to whom he was married to for 32 years, son William 'Bill' (Barbara) Bowen Jr., two sisters & brothers in law Ruth Ann (Jerry) Boaz, Donna (Vince) Calderone, three grandchildren Brittaney Bowen & Fiancé Tyler Bergman, Will Bowen & Fiancé Cassidy Ginsburg, Ram (Kendra) Jones, eight great grandchildren Ava, Ryder, Kyler; Brynnlee, Brexton; Kaelyn, Rylan, and Ramsey; brother in law Alex (Helen) Barna, nieces and nephews Debbie Sirower, Aaron Bowen, Samuel (Nicole) Barna, Steve (Jeana) Barna, great nieces and great nephews Cassidy, Dylan; Nathaniel, Madison, and Kaitlin; and his two cats Mister Black and Snickers aka “The Terror of Tiny Town”; as well as many friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in law Brian Barna.

Funeral services will be private for the family and funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
