Charles M. Basarab

Charles M. Basarab, 70, of Perryopolis, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Penn Highlands - Mon Valley, Monongahela. Born February 4, 1954 in Uniontown, PA he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah E. Flannigan Basarab. A lifelong resident of Perryopolis, Mr. Basarab was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Perryopolis. He was a graduate of Frazier High School Class of 1972 and was a former steel worker for Clairton Works. Charlie enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and riding on his bike. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed watching all sporting events, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. 

He is survived by his sister & brother in law Mary & Tim Pacey of Montgomery Village and several cousins. 

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-6 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Panachida service will be held Friday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church with the Father Oleh Seremchuk as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Parastas service will held Thursday evening at 6 PM. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Charlie to be made to St. Nicholas Church Renovation Fund.
