David E. Atkinson Jr., 57, of Hallsville, TX, passed away on July 4th, 2026 with his loving wife by his side. Born on December 17, 1968 in N. Charleroi, he was the son of David E. Atkinson Sr. and Donna M. Duda Atkinson who survive and reside in Belle Vernon, Washington Twp. David was Methodist by faith and worked in Eastman Chemical as a fire safety coordinator and surpervisor when he lived in PA. He later moved and transferred to the Texas Plant and also taught fire safety at the Texas A&M. He was a proud US Navy veteran, having served during Desert Storm, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and was a volunteer firefighter. He cherished his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by his wife, Kaydee Casselman Atkinson to whom he was maried to for 5 years; his children, Alex Atkinson & fiance Rachael Tomich, Zachary Atkinson, Casey Atkinson, stepchildren Daxton & Marissa Casselman, Conner Casselman, brothers Dustin Atkinson, Daniel & Erika Atkinson, sisters in law Lyndee & Nolan, Rebecca & Josh, mother & father in law Bruce & Marcia, five grandchildren McKenna, Addy, Hallie, Axel, and Teddy, his pet dog Paisley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Edward & Catherine Duda and paternal grandparents Norman & Kathryn Atkinson.
David will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hallsville, 1256 U.S. Highway 80, Hallsville, Texas 75650. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow at Triple Creek Ranch, 2115 FM 450 South, Hallsville, Texas 75650. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may donate in David’s honor to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network.
