Doris Jean Ryan White, 94, of Perryopolis, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Beechwood Court, Uniontown. Born February 26, 1925 in Bruceton Mills, WV she was the daughter of the late Alpha Ray and Evalene Moyers Ryan. A resident of Perryopolis for the past 64 years, Mrs. White was a member of Perryopolis United Methodist Church where she was involved in many church activities and fundraiser functions including roast beef dinners and pie bakes. Doris was especially noted for her coconut cream pie. In 2017 the church dedicated the kitchen in her honor. Mrs. White was retired from US Post Office, Perryopolis, where she worked as a rural route carrier and later as a postal clerk until 1988. During the 5th - 9th grade she played the Madeline with a string music orchestra playing on KDKA, Pittsburgh, WWSW, Wheeling and WWNBS, Uniontown. During WWII she was a chemist at the Clyde Mine, Republic. Doris was also a member of the Perryopolis Heritage Society for 25 years, the National Reamer Association with a collection of over 800 and was well known to many in Perryopolis for her seamstress work.
She is survived by her four children Donley 'Don' White & wife Millie of Flatwoods, Virginia 'Ginny' Wingrove & husband Bruce of Vanderbilt, Douglas 'Doug' White & wife Connie of Flatwoods Alan White & wife Joey of Perryopolis; eight grandchildren Mark, Dan, Jennifer, Heather, Doug Jr., Matthew, Amanda and Jessica and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Claude D. White.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515.
Relatives and friends will gather directly at the Perryopolis United Methodist Church for funeral services on Saturday at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Scott McCormick officiating. Interment will take place in LaFayette Memorial Park.
