Gary Richard Hayes, 68, of Perryopolis, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at WVU - Ruby Memorial, Morgantown. Born September 15, 1957 in Connellsville, PA he was the son of the late Windel R. Hayes and Mary Ann Haas Dill. A resident of Perryopolis for over 30 years, Mr. Hayes was a member of St. John The Baptist RC Church. He served in the US Navy, was a retired Hospital Corpsman, and spent time attached to the Fleet Marine Force in Okinawa. To the Marines he served with, he was ‘Doc’. After retiring from his service, Gary worked at the VA Hospital in Oakland and enjoyed helping and being around his fellow veterans. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Marcia Winn Hayes to whom he was married to for 46 years, son & daughter in law Nathaniel Hayes & Kimmy Nguyen of Pittsburgh, daughter & son in law Stephanie Hayes Levi & Nathan Levi of Denver. CO, three brothers & sisters in law Mike & Darlene Hayes, Lon & Christy Hayes, Chris & Marla Hayes, two sisters & brothers in law Patty & Bob Acklin, Peggy & Donald Dye all of Dawson, his father's spouse Jan Hayes, and numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his parent’s spouses: Mardell Hayes, Kenny Trump, and Robert Dill.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Prayers of Transfer will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 AM at St. John The Baptist RC Church. Interment will take place in St. John The Baptist RC Cemetery.
