George Fugo

March 11, 1922 — September 1, 2016

George Fugo, 94, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township passed away peacefully on Thursday September 1, 2016.  Born March 11, 1922 in Clarksburg West Virginia, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Frances Passantino Fugo. George was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church and was a retired millwright in the central service department of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Allenport PA. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and The Center on the Hill. Also, as a member of the Belle Vernon Golden Agers, he thoroughly enjoyed organizing monthly bus trips to area casinos. Golfing, bowling and especially dancing were his most favorite leisure time activities.

George is survived by five daughters and their families: Mary Kay & William Colclaser of Auburndale FL, Georgina 'Gina' & Douglas Wanko of Lilburn GA, Christina 'Tina' & William 'Smokey' Faltz of Greensburg, Angie Luigina Fuoco of Decatur GA, Anne & Easton Josephs of Tucker GA; six grandchildren David & Jessica Wanko, Tracy Wanko Slaughter & Jeff Slaughter, Alaina Fugo, Stephanie Cox, Will and Aaron Faltz; four great-grandchildren Kenley and Brynn Slaughter, Layton and Jace Wanko.

George is also survived by two children through marriage: Donald and his wife Bonnie Halinka and David Halinka; three grandchildren through marriage, Donnie, Brittany and Ashley Halinka; one brother Vincent 'Jimmy' & his wife Joanne Fugo of Bridgeport WV, one sister Carmella Fugo Sirianni of Clarksburg WV; plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his special friend Shirley Chubboy of Belle Vernon.

George is preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn E. Bitonti Fugo and his second wife Shirley Ann Halinka Fugo; a son, George James Fugo; and five brothers: Louis, Julius 'Junior' and Anthony Fugo all of Clarksburg WV; Samuel Fugo of Cleveland OH; Joseph Floyd Fugo of Akron OH; two sisters Anne Fugo Malone and Mary Fugo Lehosit, both of  Clarksburg WV plus four other siblings Anna, Sam, Rosina and Carmen Fugo who passed away in infancy or early childhood.

Visitation will be held Wednesday September 7, 2016 from 6-8 pm, Thursday September 8, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Prayers of Transfer will be held Friday at 9:00 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 9:30 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick Pastor as celebrant.  Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of George Fugo Thursday at 3 pm and the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Thursday at 7 pm all in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, 801 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, PA 15012.
