Obituary

Gregory Michael Myrga, 61, of Newell, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Penn Highlands – Mon Valley Hospital. My journey started one day when God created me and my parents were chosen by him. I came into this world on August 3, 1964 to the parents of Myron Myrga and Barbara (Albert) Myrga of Newell. My journey on this Earth had a mixture of great and not so great memories. I created a life with additional education beyond high school and several careers pertaining to the areas I studied. But due to my disability (genetic) I was not able to work early in life. I never married and had no children. I did however give all my love to my children who had four legs, Pooh Bear and Bree.

I was a Roman Catholic all my life starting at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Newell (strayed away for a few years due to personal issue) and then I returned to St. Sebastian’s in Belle Vernon due to a priest named Father Manchas to whom saved my life. I was currently attending St. John the Baptist in Perryopolis. I was an altar boy, lecturer, CCD instructor and Eucharistic Minister as a member of the churches. I enjoyed researching family ancestry and proud of my roots as Russian being my main ancestry and the area of England as my secondary ancestry.

My journey will continue now to meet my Lord (I hope) because I have waited so long for him to embrace me and say Welcome home my child. I have one other person to whom I have been waiting to reunite with since 1984 because the day she died half of my heart went with her. I will finally meet my Heavenly Mother with all the saints and angels and the rest of my loved ones.

He is survived by his mother Barbara Myrga, brother & sister in law Myron & Terri Myrga, nephew Dr. John & Katie Myrga, niece Dr. Amanda Myrga & fiancé Alex Kopcho, aunt Marcy Scaramucci, uncle Tom & aunt Judy Albert, many cousins, friends, and neighbors. He is preceded in death by his father, Myron Myrga Sr., paternal grandparents Metro & Mary Myrga, maternal grandparents Thomas & Margaret Albert, brother Wayne Myrga, and uncle Lewis Scaramucci.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Prayers of Transfer will be held Friday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10 AM at St. John The Baptist RC Church. Entombment will take place in LaFayette Memorial Park. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Gregory Michael Myrga to St. John the Baptist RC Church, Perryopolis.
