Jack R. Saxberg, 85, of Belle Vernon, passed away suddenly in the Emergency Room on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born May 28, 1941, in Monessen, PA he was the son of the late Walfred and Alice Good Saxberg. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 60 years, Mr. Saxberg was Lutheran by faith, was retired from Apex North America, where he worked as a Machinist. He was a proud US veteran having served in the US Navy aboard the Carrier Intrepid during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was involved in the recovery of the Gemini Space Craft. Jack joined the Belle Vernon Fire Department in 1968 serving as Past Chief, current President and was very active in the Belle Vernon Light Up Night where the kids affectionately called him 'Pappy'. He was a paramedic with he former CAS for many years, coached the Cubs youth baseball in the 1970's, and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife Georgette Costantino Saxberg to whom he was married 60 years, sons Richard Saxberg & Companion Barb Vahaly of Charleroi, John Saxberg of Belle Vernon; two grandchildren Breann & Joshua Campbell, Candice & Phillip Eisel; three great grandchildren Lilliana, August & Eloise; brother & sister in law William & Barbara Saxberg of West Newton and numerous nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his Brother David A. Saxberg

Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 and 6-7:30 PM followed by funeral services at 7:30 PM with pastor Rebecca Dittenhafer of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church officiating in the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. The Belle Vernon Fire Department will conduct services Monday at 7 PM in the funeral home.
