LeRoy A. ‘Lee’ Nicolaus, 86, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Mon Valley Care Center, Carroll Twp. Born August 12, 1935 in Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late August and Marguerite E. Headley Nicolaus. A resident of North Belle Vernon for over 60 years, Mr. Nicolaus was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon and was a retired superintendent of Postal Operations.
Lee was a Veteran of the US Army serving as a Green Barret during the Korean War, was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026, enjoyed bowling, was an avid golfer in several area leagues and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. Lee was known for being a very sweet and soft-spoken man.
He is survived by his wife Marlene Stakias Perozzi Nicolaus to whom he was married 19 years; daughter Lee Ann Nicolaus & partner Michelle Zmarzly of Gardield Heights, OH; step children Lisa M. & Lee Gniefkowski of Monessen, Michael J. & Michele Perozzi of North Belle Vernon, David T. Perozzi of New York, NY; seven step grandchildren Brett & Shane Scagline, Lydia, Marissa, Melina, Lain & Rosalyn Perozzi and a sister Eleanor Nicolaus & Eric Hamilton of VA. He is preceded in death by an infant Son Mark C. Nicolaus; son Ronald O. Nicolaus and a brother Larry Nicolaus.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held Monday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 12:30 pm at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Sunday evening at 6:30 pm in the funeral home.
