Lillian (Matthews) Smereczniak

Lillian H. Matthews Smereczniak, 93, of Belle Vernon, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Residence At Hilltop, Monongahela.  Born February 8, 1927 in N. Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Jules and Marcelle Fleury Matthews.  A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Lillian was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, Belle Vernon, was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cars with her lady friends in local Belle Vernon Card clubs.

She is survived by her three children Marcelle Frank of Cross Junction, Virginia, John & Ann Smereczniak of Red Wing, Minnesota, Renee & Robert Shaefer of Southport, North Carolina; five grandchildren Lynne, John, Benjamin, Philip and Alex and four great grandchildren Joshua, Sierra, Miranda & Dylan.  She is preceded in death by her husband John Smereczniak and two bothers Raymond Matthews and Edward Matthews.

Family visitation was held Thursday in the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183followed by funeral mass at 11:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Joel Boco as celebrant.  Interment took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  A celebration of life will also be held at a later date.
