Marco Volante, 94, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 2:44 pm at Hallsworth House, Monessen. Born November 25, 1921 in Charleroi, PA he was the son of the late Vincent and Maria Bevilacqua Volante. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 56 years, Mr. Volante was a member of St. Sebastian RC Church, Belle Vernon and was retired from Whg-Pgh Steel, Allenport Plant, where he worked in the strip mill. Marco was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Coast Guard aboard the Southwind and Northwind Icebreaker ships. He was the last surviving members of the original ships crew who was stationed in the North Atlantic.
He is survived by three daughters Patricia Stetsko of Monessen, Virginia Bellora of Belle Vernon, Theresa Volante of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a sister in law Mary Lou Volante. He is preceded in death by his wife Gilda Amatangelo Volante; a brother Joseph Volante and a sister Elma Farina.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 9-11 am at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183 followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick pastor of St. Sebastian RC Church officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
