Mark Edward Petros, 63, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at 8:02 p.m. at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jefferson Hills. Born April 20, 1952, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Edward and Florence M. Knaus Petros. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Petros was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis. He was a 1970 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School and earned an associate degree in electronics from Penn Tech in 1973. Mark was employed as a continuous mine operator with Mathies Mine, Enlow Fork Mine, and Mon-View Mining Co. After the mining industry, he held various jobs in the construction field. Mark enjoyed the outdoors immensely with hunting, fly-fishing and archery hunting. He always told interesting stories about his hunting experiences. His favorite stories were those of his elk hunting trip to Idaho. Mark, with his family and friends spent many summers on the Monongahela river boating and water-skiing. He was an avid lover of the woods having spent many hours hiking with all of his dogs. Mark will be especially missed by his West Highland White Terrier, Mackenzie. They shared many happy times together on quad rides and walks on the farm and Smithton trail. Mark was also a member of the Star Junction Fish and Game Club and the Perryopolis Sokols. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Mislan Petros to whom he was married 37 years; daughter, Ciara Rose Petros and fiance, Erik J. Gill of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Valerie and Edward Mendola of Fallowfield Township, Eileen and Thomas Costella of Belle Vernon; brother-in-law, Joseph Mislan Jr. and wife, Gayla, of Dry Tavern; niece and nephews, Edward Mendola and wife, Jennifer, Eric Mendola and wife, Ami, Nicole Costella Kolar and husband, Jonathan, Nathan Costella; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayer service will be held Friday at 10:10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. James Bump as celebrant. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
