Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' Maguire

Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' Hornbake Maguire, 89, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Twp., died Monday, March 28, 2016 at 3:06 am at Thorpe's Personal Care, N. Charleroi.  Born April 4, 1926 in N. Charleroi, PA she was the daughter of the late Francis and Ethel Darker Hornbake.   A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mrs. Maguire was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church.  She was a former Bell Telephone operator and later worked at the former G.C. Murphy's Department Store, Belle Vernon.  Betty was a former Girl Scout Leader, volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul, enjoyed traveling with her husband and vacationing with her family.  She also enjoyed cross stitch and other crafts.

She is survived by three daughters & sons in law Mary & Richard Smerczniak of Belle Vernon, Kathy & James Reppert of Speers, Lesa & Edward Hazelbaker of Stowe, Ohio; six grandchildren Jeremy S. Reppert

Jeffrey R. Reppert & wife Julie, Jason M. Smereczniak, Adam M. Smereczniak, Samantha R. Hazelbaker, Matthew Hazelbaker; brother & sister in law Lawrence & Helen Hornbake of Gettysburg and a sister & brother in law Marcella & Walter Severyn of Pleasant Hills.  She is preceded in death by her husband Francis C. Maguire Jr. 2/6/1995, two brothers Robert Hornbake, George F. Hornbake and a grandson Eric M. Smereczniak.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 9:00 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 9:30 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Msgr. Roger A. Statnick Pastor as celebrant.  Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Betty Wednesday at 3 pm in the funeral home.
