Obituary

Mike Wassilchalk, Jr., 83, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at his home. Born October 9, 1942, in N. Charleroi, PA, he was the son of Mike and Anna Tadavich Wassilchalk, Sr. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon, Mike was Byzantine Catholic by faith. He was retired from the former Consol Coal Co., where he worked as a Distribution/Sales Manager. He was a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department faithfully holding the office of financial secretary for 50 years. He was employed at the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home for many years. Mike was an avid, vintage NASCAR fan traveling to numerous racetracks, a Pitt Panther fan, and a BVA Leopard fan. He thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Daytona Beach with his family. Most of all, Mike was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren following them to their various sports and academic activities.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Abbott Wassilchalk, to whom he would have been married 58 years in June; two daughters & sons-in-law, Alice E. & Christian Breckenridge of Washington Twp., Donna A. & Dave Semon of Jacobs Creek; son & daughter-in-law Mark A. & Gala Wassilchalk of Somerset; three grandchildren, Elizabeth C. Breckenridge, Thomas M. Breckenridge, Tanner B. Wassilchalk; brother-in-law, Edward Lesovic of North Belle Vernon, and nephew Scott E. Lesovic. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Marie Lesovic.
