Mildred I. Poteray Brown, 91, of Belle Vernon, Washington twp., died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 9:07 am at her home. Born July 27, 1925 in N. Charleroi, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Bednarski Poteray. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 70 years, Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church, the former Fraternity of Christian Mothers, the former St. Sebastian Legion of Mary, enjoyed crocheting, bowling and watching various game shows on TV.
She is survived by a son & daughter in law John L. & Joannie Brown of Pittsburgh; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers in laws Stella Frantz of Charleroi, Eleanor & John Yocolano of Donora, Norma & Paul Chasko of Finleyville and MaryAnn & James Smith of Monessen. She is preceded in death by her husband Clair N. Brown (11/10/2004), a daughter Kathy Cieleski (1994) and two brothers Lawrence Poteray Jr. and Robert Poteray.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Francisco R. Gan Jr. Pastor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Mildred Brown Monday at 3 pm in the funeral home. The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Mildred Brown to Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, 2821 Sarah St. Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
