The family of Noreen Newhouse, 72, of North Belle Vernon, PA, is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Penn Highlands – Mon Valley Hospital, Monongahela, PA, surrounded by her family. Noreen was born on March 18, 1954 to the late Virginia “Doed” Halgas and Rudolph “Rudy” Halgas of North Belle Vernon. Noreen was a lifelong caretaker of all those she loved. She deeply enjoyed reading and was a frequent patron of the North Belle Vernon Public Library. Noreen had an affinity and talent for sewing, crafting, and cooking, making many meals and homemade gifts for others throughout her life. Noreen also had a special talent for “dirt therapy,” enjoying gardening and making her yard more beautiful each year. Noreen always made every occasion special, loved her family fiercely, and loved to entertain.

Noreen is survived by her loving husband, Joseph R. Newhouse, together for 55 years (married for 49), her daughter, Samantha (Jonathan) Dawson, her granddaughter, Gianna Dawson, her brother, Brian Halgas, her niece, Audrey Halgas, her cousin and “sister” Mary Jo (Steve) Timmons, cousin Bec Hamadock, numerous other cousins and family friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9-11 AM followed by funeral services at 11 AM with the Rev. Michael Thomas of St. Sebastian RC Church officiating at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the North Belle Vernon Public Library in her memory.
