Regis E. Rusnock, 91, of Perryopolis, died peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 3:43 pm at Westmoreland Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 15, 1926 in New Kensington, PA he was the son of the late John and Anna Kurzinger Rusnock. A resident of Perryopolis for the past 48 years, Mr. Rusnock was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Perryopolis. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was stationed in Naples Italy. Upon returning from the War, he graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Mining Engineering. Regis began his career in mining working for the Renton Coal Company and eventually retired as the Superintendent of National Steel’s Isabella Mine. In his retirement, Regis enjoyed gardening, wine-making, “tinkering”, and volunteering for St. John the Baptist Church. He was a member of the Perryopolis Knights of Columbus Council 4427, Perryopolis First Catholic Sokol Club, Perryopolis VFW Post 7023, St. John Holy Name Society, the Perryopolis Heritage Society and the SNPJKSKJ. Beginning in his youth until he passed, Regis was a life-long Pittsburgh sports teams’ fan, in particular the Pirates, and he also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends.
Regis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his his wife Kathryn Kokal Rusnock to whom he was married 65 years; children Regis P. 'RP' Rusnock & wife Linda of Ames, IA, Larry Rusnock wife & Kim of Greensburg, Cindy Peta husband & Chris of Irwin, Karen Tylka husband & Greg of Ames, IA; four grandchildren Lindsey Swartz & husband Bobby, Jessica Rusnock, Kristen Babcock & husband Brendan, Justin Tylka and a great granddaughter Juliette Swartz. He is preceded in death by a brother Freddie Rusnock and a sister Aileen Roman.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis, PA 724-736-2515. Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. John The Baptist RC Church with the Rev. Anthony W. Ditto as celebrant. Interment will take place in Plum Creek Cemetery Tuesday at 1:30 PM.
Members of St. John the Baptist Church will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Regis Rusnock Monday at 3 pm, the Perryopolis Knights of Columbus will conduct services Monday evening at 6:30 pm and the Perryopolis VFW Post 7023 will conduct services Monday evening at 7 pm all in the funeral home.
