Steve Fafalios
June 15, 1929 — March 21, 2017
Steve Fafalios, 87, of Monongahela, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 12:28 am at Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Twp. after a lengthy illness. Born June 15, 1929 in Smithton, he was the son of the late John and Maria Flamos Fafalios. A resident of Monongahela for the past 51 years, Mr. Fafalios was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen. Steve was a veteran of the Korean war having served in the US Navy, was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant, and was co-founder of Webster Metals. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, always enjoyed going to Chautauqua, NY, working in his garden and watching the Pirates and Steelers. His later years were spent devoted to his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Irene Kontaxes Fafalios to whom he was married 64 years; five children Maryann & Dan Dudas of Eighty Four, Joseph & Joy Fafalios of Monongahela, Kathy Fairweather & Fiancé Tom Miller of Lewisburg, Irene Joy & Frank Agostoni of New Eagle, Stephanie & Jayson Beech of Belle Vernon; 10 grandchildren Michelle Davis & husband Chris, Melinda Necciai, Stacie Gilley & husband Regis, Adrien Fairweather, Jessica Gauger & husband Josh, Jonathan Fafalios, Joshua Agostoni, Ryan Agostoni, Taylor Beech, Logan Beech; seven great grandchildren Tyler Yocolano, Michael Yocolano, Alexis Davis, Selena Easley, Devin Easley, Gina Gilley and Nicholas Gilley; brother Joe Fafalios of Belle Vernon and a sister Freeda Kootsouradis of Monessen. He is preceded in death by two brothers Nick and Anthony Fafalios.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Relatives and friends will gather directly at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen Friday for 10 am funeral services with the Rev. Joseph Cervo of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Interment will take place in Mon Valley Memorial Park. Trisagion services will be held Thursday at 7 pm in the funeral home.
