Walter A. "Woody" Bianchi, 86, formerly of Newell, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Bayside Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla. Born March 4, 1929, in Newell, he was the son of the late Alfonse and Assunta Tomasso Bianchi. Mr. Bianchi was a member of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Newell, and was a retired truck driver from General Chemical, Newell. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army, member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, the Am Vets of Uniontown, Korean War veterans of St. Petersburg, Fla., the Sons of Italy in Perryopolis and the St. Petersburg Tarantella Dance Group. He was also the founder of the Newell Federal Credit Union and was an avid accordion player specializing in Italian music. He is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Janice and Al Altomari, of Monessen, Regina Cunningham and companion, Joe, of Newell, Maria and Jim Premoshis, of Fayette City, Bernadette and Barry Deutsch, of Greensburg, and Rosalie and Chad DuBreucq, of Monessen; eight grandchildren, Jason Cunningham, Dustin Premoshis, Casey Premoshis, Bianca Bodde, Breanna Deutsch, Bodie DuBreucq, Braedon DuBreucq and Brent DuBreucq; great-granddaughter, Alivia Premoshis; and two sisters, Eleanor Bianchi, of Fayette City, and Dolores Unnone, of North Huntington. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Amelia LoBue and Genevieve Stringhill.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston of Epiphany Of Our Lord Church officiating. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
