Walter A. "Woody" Bianchi, 86, formerly of Newell, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Bayside Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla. Born March 4, 1929, in Newell, he was the son of the late Alfonse and Assunta Tomasso Bianchi. Mr. Bianchi was a member of the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Catholic Church, Newell, and was a retired truck driver from General Chemical, Newell. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army, member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659, the Am Vets of Uniontown, Korean War Veterans of St. Petersburg, Fla., the Sons of Italy in Perryopolis and the St. Petersburg Tarantella Dance Group. He was also the founder of the Newell Federal Credit Union and was an avid accordion player specializing in Italian music. He is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Janice and Al Altomari of Monessen, Regina Cunningham and companion, Joe, of Newell, Maria and Jim Premoshis of Fayette City, Bernadette and Barry Deutsch of Greensburg, Rosalie and Chad DuBreucq of Monessen; eight grandchildren, Jason Cunningham, Dustin Premoshis, Casey Premoshis, Bianca Bodde, Breanna Deutsch, Bodie DuBreucq, Braedon DuBreucq, Brent DuBreucq; great-granddaughter, Alivia Premoshis; and two sisters, Eleanor Bianchi of Fayette City and Dolores Unnone of North Huntington. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Amelia LoBue and Genevieve Stringhill.
Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Parzynski Funeral Home and Cremations at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston of Epiphany of Our Lord Church officiating. Entombment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will conduct services 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
