A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Jack graduated from Bellmar High School in 1961 and attended Robert Morris Junior College where he earned an associate's degree in accounting in 1964. He went on to work as a cost accountant for the Republic Steel Corp.’s Mining Division and later worked at Corning Glass Co. in Charleroi where he retired in 2009 from the Automatics Department.  Jack was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Parish, and a former member of St. Anne Church in Rostraver where he served on the parish council. He was also a former cubmaster for Cub Scout pack 1590.

Jack married his high school sweetheart, Frances Hayduk Koschalk on August 24, 1968,  celebrating 54 years of marriage in the summer of 2022. Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are son Douglas Koschalk of Baltimore, MD, and daughter Nicole and her husband Greg Adametz of Perryopolis, PA; five grandchildren, Bella, Elliott and Remi Koschalk, and Grace and Gavin Adametz; sister Linda Field and niece Lauren Bellon of Nevada, nephew John Field of New Jersey, Nephew Matthew Field of Arizona; sister-in-law Susan Wolfe Hayduk of Maryland, nephew Paul Hayduk Jr. of Oregon, nephew Matthew Hayduk of Virginia; and numerous cousins and dear friends.
