Jack S. Koschalk

Jack S. Koshalk, 80, of Belle Vernon, Washington Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at his home. Born November 22, 1942, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Almeda Tucci Koschalk and Steve Koschalk. Jack was fondly referred to as Jacobe by his dad.

A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Jack graduated from Bellmar High School in 1961 and attended Robert Morris Junior College where he earned an associate's degree in accounting in 1964. Unable to attend his graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army that spring at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He also served at Fort Hood and Fort Bliss in Texas, where he was responsible for strength reporting of troops during the Vietnam War.

Following his military service, Jack began a career in accounting at Walworth Valve Co in Greensburg. Jack returned to Robert Morris University during this time, earning a B.S. in business administration in 1977. He went on to work as a cost accountant for the Republic Steel Corp.’s Mining Division and later worked at Corning Glass Co. in Charleroi where he retired in 2009 from the Automatics Department.  Jack was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Parish, and a former member of St. Anne Church in Rostraver where he served on the parish council. He was also a former cubmaster for Cub Scout pack 1590.

Jack married his high school sweetheart, Frances Hayduk Koschalk on August 24, 1968,  celebrating 54 years of marriage in the summer of 2022. Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are son Douglas Koschalk of Baltimore, MD, and daughter Nicole and her husband Greg Adametz of Perryopolis, PA; five grandchildren, Bella, Elliott and Remi Koschalk, and Grace and Gavin Adametz; sister Linda Field and niece Lauren Bellon of Nevada, nephew John Field of New Jersey, Nephew Matthew Field of Arizona; sister-in-law Susan Wolfe Hayduk of Maryland, nephew Paul Hayduk Jr. of Oregon, nephew Matthew Hayduk of Virginia; and numerous cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brothers-in-law David Field of Nevada and Paul Hayduk of Maryland.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9AM Saturday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9.30AM at St. Sebastian with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
