James S. Cherocci

James S. Cherocci Jr., 89, of Belle Vernon, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at his home.  Born July 18, 1931 in Monessen, PA he was the son of the late James and Kathryn Marra Cherocci.  A resident of Belle Vernon for over 40 years, Mr. Cherocci was a member of St. Sebastian RC Church, Belle Vernon.  Mr. Cherocci was the former owner of JC Cherocci Tavern, Belle Vernon, was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and was an avid football fan.

He is survived by, his wife Carolyn Samoda Cherocci, to whom he married 34 years, daughter & son in law Kimberly & Doug Everard of North Carolina, son & daughter in law James & Jenny Cherocci of Michigan, daughter Shelley Samoda & fiancé Denny Long of Belle Vernon, sister and brother in law Dolores & Joseph ‘Chip’ DeFelicis of Monessen, eleven grandchildren, Courtney Samoda, Falyn Samoda, Hannah Samoda, Christina Barcus, Zachary Cherocci, Justin Cherocci, Lucas Cherocci, Nicole Ioannou, Alexandra Ioannou, Emily Everard, and David Everard. He is preceded in death by his daughter Shawndell Adair Samoda Muro and an infant brother David.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-7:30 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC at 7:30 PM with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston of St. Sebastian R.C. Church officiating.

Keeping in compliance with the County and State Mandate, guests are asked to please abide by personal protective guidelines, masks MUST be worn, social distancing must still be maintained and to please minimize your visit to allow other family and friends to pay their respects to the family since we are still limited to 25 guests in the funeral home at a given time.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of James Cherocci to the funeral home.
