Naomi Ruth Detandt

March 19, 1970 — February 24, 2021

Naomi Ruth Detandt, 50, of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, her Savior, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.  Born March 19, 1970 in Newark, New York she was the daughter of the late Rev. Gerald J. and Ruth E. Weeast Detandt.  Naomi attended Covenant Baptist Church in Uniontown.  She was in the charter class of Hidden Treasure Christian School in Taylors, South Carolina and a recipient of the Awana Timothy Award at Hampton Park Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, where she later served as an Awana aid. She enjoyed attending the Arc of Fayette ATF through which she was a community volunteer.  Her life influenced several people to enter special needs careers or to adopt special needs children.  Naomi’s unique sense of humor always brought smiles to those around her.

She is survived by three sisters and a brother: Lydia Strickler and husband Phillip of Perryopolis, Priscilla Guilliams of South Carolina, Rebecca Higdon of Maryland, Andrew Detandt and wife Cathy of Pennsylvania, and dear sister-in-law Joanne Detandt of South Carolina. She was the proud aunt of 16 nieces and nephews: Jeremy, Hannah, Ethan, Faith, Micah, Bryan, Nathan, Bradley ("Bratley"), Eric, James, Jenna, Joshua, JoAnna, Elizabeth, Ella, Rachael and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by good friend and caregiver Olivia Isaac.  She is preceded in death by her brother John M. Detandt, brothers-in-law Mark Guilliams and Laurence Higdon, and infant nephew David Strickler.

A private family visitation and prayer service will be held Saturday at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC 191 Liberty St. Perryopolis PA 15473 with the Rev. Dana Wiles, Jr. of Covenant Baptist Church officiating.  A public graveside service on Saturday, March 6 at 10 a.m. will take place at Wood Memorial Park, Greer, South Carolina where she will be interred beside her parents. A public memorial service in Pennsylvania will be held at a later date.  In accordance with Pennsylvania state mandates, masks MUST be worn at all times.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hidden Treasure Christian School or to The Arc, Fayette.  Check memo line should include "in memory of Naomi Detandt."

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 5, 2021 at 10 am in the Covenant Baptist Church 148 Union St. Uniontown, PA with the  Rev. Dana Wiles, Jr.  officiating.  Parking on streets and at St. Paul’s AME church  at 167 Morgantown St
